The EuFMD series of e-learning courses is aimed at developing capacity in preparedness and control of Foot-and-Mouth and similar transboundary animal diseases. In addition, it aims at equipping veterinary services in countries not currently FMD-free
with the skills needed for a progressive control of the diseases. The available EuFMD courses provide an essential overview of FMD recognition, diagnosis, outbreak investigation and surveillance, including planning, conducting and evaluating
simulation exercises for animal disease emergencies.
The course series consists of the following two courses:
Course

measures.

Course
This course introduces simulation exercises as part of preparedness for animal disease emergencies. It explains the processes involved in planning, conducting and evaluating simulation exercises. It also describes the various tools, approaches and strategies
to support decision-making, as well as the different phases of an exercise.
3 h 30 m
Each course concludes with a final test. A digital badge certificate is issued upon successful completion of the test.
Depending on the interest of learners, the self-paced course series can be completed as a whole (which is preferable), or as individual courses (or lessons), taken independently.
Throughout the course series, references are made to specific courses or lessons where certain subjects are covered more extensively. Each course takes the learner step-by-step through the learning content using interactive screens and is
complemented by exercises and links to additional material and websites for further reading.
