FAO engages with partners from the inception of a new course to the distribution in multiple languages.
Working with like-minded institutions and expert groups, we involve our partners in all aspects of course development. Each course is designed through consultations with subject experts with working knowledge of the topics presented, as well as with novice learners and field practitioners to meet the learning needs of our target audiences. Language adaptations are undertaken by experts and institutions in each subject area, ensuring the latest terms and resources are provided.
Promotion and distribution of our e-learning courses is done in collaboration with our partners. Our funding partners are also engaged in the planning and design of our courses and have been instrumental in the promotion of our materials, to support agriculture and food and nutrition security programmes.

The European Union has sustained the development and dissemination of e-learning by FAO to meet the needs of food security and agricultural professionals world-wide. We have reached over 375,000 learners since we launched our first course in 2005.
The contribution of the EU deserves special recognition as 80% of the courses available on this site were developed with EU funding. The EU is also supporting the development of the e-learning interface used for all the courses, and the migration towards newer technologies. All courses developed with EU support are noted with the EU logo.
