This course offers a comprehensive guide for implementing participatory video (PV) within the Communication for Development (ComDev) approach. PV serves as an interactive tool to foster inclusive and sustainable development by mirroring local realities and sharing people’s values, cultures and perceptions. In essence, PV helps organizations and practitioners in rural areas facilitate inclusive development processes and initiatives.

Everyone else interested in learning the basics of participatory video is enjoined to take the course too!

  • The purpose, content and context for using participatory video, as well as the advantages of using video for development.
  • How to use video to promote dialogue and engagement, and to share knowledge and information using the right platforms, tools, methods and practices.
  • How to produce and share participatory video, as well as how to incorporate it in development processes and initiatives to promote change in rural environments.
  • The technicalities of video production, including framing shots, devising sequences, following shooting protocols.

There are six units in this course, and each unit is divided into lessons of approximately 10-60 minutes duration each:
