This e-learning course supports the Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia (REU) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in advancing land consolidation and land banking instruments. Designed as a key resource for capacity-building, it supports project implementation at the country level, the education of future land tenure professionals, and lifelong learning initiatives.
The course explores core concepts of land consolidation and land banking, including policy, legal, and institutional frameworks. It provides detailed guidance on the key approaches and implementation methodologies, guiding principles, and safeguards. It also features real-world case studies that help bridge academic knowledge with practical applications.

The course consists of 4 lessons of approximately 60 mins duration each:
- Lesson 1: Introduction to modern land consolidation and land banking
- Lesson 2: Phase 1 of the land consolidation process – Feasibility study and land valuation (under development)
- Lesson 3: Phase 2 of the land consolidation process – Re-allotment planning (under development)
- Lesson 4: Phase 3 of the land consolidation process: Registration and implementation (under development)
The online version of this course runs on the latest versions of the major browsers, such as Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox.
The downloadable version only runs on Windows PC’s and no additional software is needed.
