Topic outline
This course explores the “CFS Voluntary Guidelines on Gender Equality and Women’s and Girls’ Empowerment in the Context of Food Security and Nutrition”, clarifying their rationale, key objectives, and core principles, as well as the main stakeholders targeted. It also provides an in-depth analysis of the nine focus areas around which the recommendations are structured.



This course is primarily intended for:
- Government representatives and policymakers;
- United Nations professionals;
- Civil society members;
- Researchers (international agricultural research institutions);
- Professionals from international and regional financial institutions; and
- Private company managers.
- What the Guidelines are and how they were developed.
- The background, the rationale and core principles behind the Guidelines.
- The main stakeholders addressed by the Guidelines and how they should ensure their implementation and monitoring.
- The nine focus area around which the Guidelines are organized, with supporting data, detailed explanations and relevant case studies for each one.
The course consists of the following two lessons:
- Lesson 1 – Introducing the Guidelines
- Lesson 2 – Understanding the Guidelines’ focus areas
