This course is designed to raise awareness of the importance and benefits of co-management in aquaculture, while building the skills needed to implement and manage these systems in real-world settings. In doing so it, addresses the practical challenges related to stakeholder engagement, monitoring and evaluation and provides guidance to support the development of policies and regulatory frameworks that enable co-management adoption.

This course is relevant for anyone interested in the subject of aquaculture management, including:

  • Aquaculture farmers and producers;
  • Government officials and policymakers;
  • Fisheries and aquaculture extension agents;
  • Researchers and academics; and
  • NGOs and civil society.

  • Aquaculture Co-Management (ACM) for the sustainable aquaculture from farm to ecosystem scale.
  • The three dimensions of good practices in ACM system.
  • The three implementation phases of ACM and their key activities.
  • Generic monitoring and evaluation indicators for evaluating ACM.

This course consists of four lessons of approximately 30-40 minutes duration each:

  • Lesson 1 – Introduction to aquaculture co-management
  • Lesson 2 – Aquaculture co-management good practices
  • Lesson 3 – Implementing aquaculture co-management
  • Lesson 4 – Monitoring, evaluation and learning
