The course explores effective practices for coping with soil salinity in the Asia-Pacific Region. Some practical examples and case studies of successful salinity management practices are introduced and analysed, to identify implementation features, benefits, challenges and applicability to similar contexts.

This course is aimed at a variety of audiences, including:

  • government officials and policy makers;
  • technical advisors in agriculture;
  • agricultural producers;
  • researchers on soil, agronomy and environmental sciences;
  • anyone involved in agricultural activities in saline regions; and
  • anyone interested in sustainable farming and environmental conservation.

  • Irrigation and drainage practices for soil salinity prevention and control.
  • Agronomic practices to improve the quality of salt-affected soils and enhance agricultural productivity.
  • Chemical and biological practices to reclaim salt-affected soils and improve crop yield.

This course consists of four lessons of approximately 30-45 minutes duration each:

  • Lesson 1 - Good irrigation and drainage practices
  • Lesson 2 - Good agronomic practices
  • Lesson 3 - Good chemical practices
  • Lesson 4 - Good biological practices
