This course is the first of two intended to provide parliamentarians, their advisors and relevant actors with a broad overview of nutrition and agrifood systems concepts, and explore the opportunities for nutrition action in the national context.

This e-learning course provides both an overview of key concepts relating to nutrition and sustainable food systems, and explores the role parliamentarians can play. As such, it is intended for:

  • Parliamentarians
  • Parliamentary advisors
  • Media and the general public

  • The key concepts of nutrition, agrifood systems and healthy diets.
  • The three forms of malnutrition and how their affect individuals and the societies in which they live.
  • Sustainability dimensions of agrifood systems.
  • How agrifood systems approach can help parliamentarians to achieve nutrition targets.
  • The role of parliamentary action in creating an enabling environment for nutrition and agrifood systems action.
  • The four areas of parliamentarian’s mandate in which concrete actions can and should be taken to promote sustainable agrifood systems.

This course consists of three lessons of approximately 15 minutes duration each:

  • Lesson 1 – Nutrition and healthy diets
  • Lesson 2 – A sustainable agrifood systems approach to healthy diets
  • Lesson 3 – The role of Parliamentarians

This course runs on the latest versions of the major browsers, such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari.

Digital certification
