Topic outline
This course is the second of two intended for parliamentarians, their advisors and relevant actors. It explores the important role that legislation and policy interventions play in creating an enabling environment to transform food systems, improve nutrition, end hunger and achieve Sustainable Development Goal 2.





This course is designed for:
- Parliamentarians
- Parliamentary advisors
- Media and the general public
- The nutrition challenges and drivers which influence dietary changes.
- The agrifood systems approach, its’s benefits, and lessons from existing adoption experiences.
- Legislative and policy entry points for parliamentarians.
- Key concepts and features of an effective and enabling legal framework, and how parliamentarians can create and strengthen it.
- Constitutional, legislative, institutional and policy measures that address the right to adequate food.
- The importance of national and international parliamentary networks and alliances.
This course consists of three lessons of approximately 25 - 40 minutes duration each:
- Lesson 1 – An overview of nutrition and legal entry points
- Lesson 2 – Legislating nutrition and food systems in line with international frameworks
- Lesson 3 – The role of parliamentarians in advancing the nutrition agenda
