Topic outline
This course explains the Farm Business School (FBS) Forward approach of FAO. FBS Forward aims to promote farm business management skills among small-scale farmers and promote viable rural enterprises, with specific attention to inclusion, innovation and collective action.


The course is aimed at facilitators and trainers of the FBS Forward approach and other interested stakeholders. It is intended to be a simple guide using plain language, to provide a working knowledge of the FBS Forward steps and methods.
- Principles and background of the FBS Forward approach and training package.
- How to prepare, plan and create a good FBS Forward learning environment.
- Facilitation skills involved in rolling out successful FBS Forward.
This course is divided into 2 lessons of about 60 minutes duration each:
- Lesson 1 – What is the FBS Forward?
- Lesson 2 – Facilitating the FBS Forward
