This course allows learners to assess different candidate management procedures (MPs) based on Management Strategy Evaluation (MSE). Through scenario-based practical application, this course walks learners through the MP development and decision-making process to build the skills needed to evaluate and implement effective management procedures that ensure long-term fishery sustainability.

This course is primarily aimed at people involved in fisheries in a wide range of organizations including national governments, regional fisheries management organizations (RFMOs) and other regional fisheries bodies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), fishing industries, and the seafood supply chain. More specifically, the course is designed for these primary targets: fishery managers, fisheries scientists and industry stakeholders.
- The entire process to develop an MP, from consultation with stakeholders to review of management objectives, to selection of the best candidate MP.
- The different types of plots to analyse the MSE results.
- The elements to consider when analysing and interpreting MSE results.
- How to assess different candidate management procedures and select the most suitable one based on performance indicators.
