Topic outline
This course lays down the considerations for fieldwork and discusses plot-level variables as well as tree-level measurements.
This course is primarily intended for people who are involved in NFIs but can be taken by anyone with an interest in the subject. Specifically, this course targets:
- Forestry technicians
- National forest monitoring teams
- Foresters and forestry students
- Youth and new generations of foresters
- Getting started with fieldwork.
- Field team training and phases of training.
- The importance of field manuals.
- Collecting data on plots and sub-plots.
- Measuring tree heights and tree diameters.
The course consists of 4 lessons, of approximately 20 minutes duration each:
- Lesson 1 - Preparing for fieldwork
- Lesson 2 - Fieldwork training
- Lesson 3 - Plot and sub-plot level measurements
- Lesson 4 - Tree-level measurements
This course runs on the latest versions of the major browsers, such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari.
